For industrial lighting means that relative to sheds, warehouses, factory departments, and many other workplaces. In these environments, which are usually very large, a very efficient and professional lighting system is required.

The history of industrial lighting

In the early 1960s, halogen lamps represented a real revolution, supplanting incandescent lighting systems. Significantly greater the intensity and above all longer duration, the halogen lighting has thus taken over the industrial sector.
However, halogen lamps and headlights have considerable disadvantages, such as to have made them obsolete today, being gradually replaced by technologies that are much more modern and efficient, such as LEDs.
The first great disadvantage regards the high environmental impact, the components with which the halogen lighting devices are manufactured, are highly polluting for the environment. Moreover, like new technologies, halogen lamps have very high consumption, especially if used to illuminate large spaces such as industrial sheds or departments. Not to mention that halogen lamps without protection emit ultraviolet rays that are harmful to both health and objects.
It was in the 2000s that LED technology made its entrance, today considered the most efficient lighting system with low environmental impact.

Industrial lighting: LEDs and energy efficiency

The reasons for the great success of LED technology and its use in the industrial field are to be found first of all in its high performance. The amount of energy dispersed in terms of heat is not at all comparable to that of halogen lamps: a LED lamp is able to convert as much as 50% of the absorbed energy into light, with a luminous efficiency of 80-100 lumens / watt compared to 10-28 lumen/watt of halogen lamps.
The costs, even if higher during the purchase phase, can be amortized over time since the LED lamps have a duration of almost 50,000 hours against the 5,000 hours of a halogen lamp.
In terms of sustainability, LED lamps do not contain polluting substances or emit radiation harmful to health and the environment.
Energy efficiency, low environmental impact, and energy saving are the trump cards, which make LED technology the best solution in the field of industrial lighting.
